COVID 19 MEDICARE ITEMS FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENT

 

 

In This Current Health crisis, it is vital you are looking about your psychological health. This page will assist you to know more about accessing psychological therapy with Anasua Chakrabarti Roy under Medicare items funded by government from March 2020. This page will be updated regularly to ensure information that is up to date as per Australian Psychology Society (APS) and AHPRA guidelines.

Due to social distancing measures, I will be providing Telehealth using various online platforms and via phone. Online platforms will include Skype and Zoom.

 

You will be able to access 20 to 50 minutes of Telehealth counselling under the following mental health care items.

 

Medicare Items 91169 and 91170 will be used for Video Conferencing. Small Gap Fee for client.

Medicare Items 91183 and 91184 will be used for telephone based counselling. Small Gap Fee For Client.

 

To qualify for these items you must be fitting the following criteria for Covid 19 situation.

According to APS, Vulnerable and isolated clients are eligible to receive telehealth services provided by a psychologist if:

  • the person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 virus but who is not a patient of a hospital; or
  • the person has been required to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC); or
  • the person is considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus being a person who is:
    • at least 70 years old; or
    • at least 50 years old and is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
    • is pregnant; or
    • is a parent of a child under 12 months; or
    • is already under treatment for chronic health conditions or is immune compromised; or
  • the person meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection.
    If you are eligible from the above criteria, you can be referred by:
  • A medical practitioner, either as part of a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, or as part of a shared care plan or as part of a psychiatrist assessment and management plan; or
  • A specialist or consultant physician specialising in the practice of his or her field of psychiatry.
